I married my lovely wife, Jan, in 1968. We’ll soon celebrate 53 years of marriage. She is my rock. Prior to retiring in 2009, from Honda of America Mfg. Inc., I worked at a few jobs. I started out in Plumbing and Heating with my Dad at 13 years old. I served 3 years in the U. S. Army, 1 year in Vietnam. I have had my own business, electrical and refrigeration. I have worked at Appliance Repair doing warranty work for 15+ companies. I worked at South Central Power Company for several years (substation technician). At Honda, my position was Staff Engineer and I was responsible for a several million dollar budget in the facilities area. I also was involved in Energy Management for all plants in North America and overseen the building of plants in Mexico, Michigan, and South Carolina. Since retiring, I have worked for a Construction Company in Circleville, OH. Our main work is Fiber Optic cable installation, though we also install swimming pools, generators, etc. I do many of the estimates as well as drawings and engineering. I am proud to be on the Board at Union and was quite humbled and honored to be asked to serve. My favorite part of Union would be working with Jim Lanier and singing in the choir. I am blessed.

My husband, Spike, and I moved to Florida in 1989 and came to Union shortly after. I retired in 2010 from Dr. Ron Owens office where I was an Office Manager. When I found out I could volunteer at Union, I began with Cheryal Phillips and then went on to become a restroom cleaner. From there I went to work with Marilyn Taylor, and now my present job is with Unions Mission. I love Union. I love the Pastors and staff, and I especially love the teachings of love and grace. Through my volunteering Itry to touch people with love. Through my Christmas Ministry for kids I try to touch parents and children with hope and with Christ's love.

Dennis Dunn
Hi, my name is Dennis Dunn. I am 65 years young. My wife of 44 years, Bev, and I moved to Avon Park from Miami in 1996. We found Union Church through friends in 2002, and have loved this church from the beginning…we always get “a message,” and feel a strong need and desire to be with Union. I am a licensed general contractor and feel I have been very blessed with work opportunities locally and out of town as well. I give back as often as I can, through the love I have for Jesus. We are very fortunate to have both of our children and their families living in Avon Park, and get to spend a lot of time with them and all the grandchildren - another blessing! Union Church has been a blessing for me and I have grown so much in Christ. It is a focus and passion of mine to keep our church campus fixed up, looking good, and in great condition.

I was born and raised in New York State. I taught elementary school for 26 years in Hammondsport, a lovely little town in the Finger Lakes Region. My husband, Bob, and I have been in Florida since 1994, coming to Highlands Ridge as snowbirds. In 2003, we became full-time residents. We first attended Union on Easter 2000 and it has been our "home" ever since. I joined the Thursday Morning Women's Bible Study the next year (this was the first Bible Study I had ever attended). Within a couple of years, the leader was moving and I was asked to take her place. This was a huge leap of faith for me, since I was so new to reading and studying the Bible. We are now known as “The Bible Babes.” Through this group, I am Union's contact person for the Angel Tree Ministry. We provide Christmas gifts from prisoners, who are part of the Prison Fellowship Ministry, to their children who live in Highlands County. I also lead a Small Group of 4 couples at Highlands Ridge. Being a part of these ministries, being a member of Union, and learning from all of our Pastors has allowed me to develop a personal relationship with the Lord and to go deeper in my understanding of what it means to "Love God and Love People". I look forward to serving on the Board and I welcome whatever challenges and blessings the Lord has for us.

I have been blessed to be a member here at Union for about 5 years. I have an amazing husband, and am the proud mom of a 28-year-old son and an 12-year-old son. My family and I relocated from New York back in 2005. As a new resident of Avon Park, I searched for a church home. In the meantime, I found my spiritual food and peace in a daily Bible Study, with Les Feldick, on a Christian television network. The message of GOD’s grace was emphasized more than I had ever heard. FAITH + NOTHING!!! Jesus accomplished it ALL at the cross. So, when the LORD led me to Union and I heard the same message, I knew it was where I was supposed to be. I currently enjoy volunteering with our Children’s Ministry and Ms. Fawn. I am blessed to be able to work with Ms. Connie Evers, as well as being a part of the Thanksgiving Feed. I pray that I may be a blessing to Union as it has been a blessing to me. Thank you for the opportunity! May GOD bless this mission center and ministry.
